Brief

I was asked to create a textile picture for a living room in a beautiful home.

It needed to blend with the existing decor in shades of lemon, soft greens and browns. My clients gave me a fabric swatch to match the colours.

With a limited colour palette (absolutely no blue!) I used more defined shapes to create the feeling of a sumptuous garden. They also wanted to birds as well as a lot of hand embroidery to make a ‘show-stopper’ piece.

There were quite stringent sizing considerations because it was going to be fitted to a rack to be raised and lowered, covering a TV inset into the wall when it was not in use. Finished size is 36″ x 43″ mounted on wooden stretcher bars.
